To be …. Humble
The Oxford dictionary defines humble as
having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's importance.
of low social, administrative, or political rank.
Neither one of these definitions allign with my experience of the word….
I imagine what humble looks like… feels like…
I imagine humble and I see myself kneeling on the earth.
Bringing my forehead to the ground,
Connecting with the Earths Heart
Gratitude pouring from every part of my being for what she has gifted me.
The work that I’m here to do. Who I am here to BE.
My heart is humble as I bow and dedicate myself to listening, to holding, to guiding, to loving, to activating that within me that is in response to her.
I humble myself by coming closer to the Earth.
Not to make my self small but to find my strength.
To align with my being.
To anchor my roots deep within the earth.
So deep that no wind, no storm, no wave will shake me.
And so I reflect on the origins of the word humble and I find that the first iteration of the word comes from the Latin “Humus” which means of Earth, rooted in Earth. From the earth.
And that sounds true to me.
